For many neurodivergent young people, the struggle isn’t a lack of ability, motivation, or potential. It’s a mismatch. And when the environment shifts, everything can change – not just academically, but emotionally, socially, and even in how a young person sees themselves and their future. But it’s also up to us parents and caretakers to do our work to imagine a new dynamic that was more than likely glaringly absent from our own lives.
